SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse University women’s basketball team will be the No. 8 seed and play No. 9 seed Virginia Tech in this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Orange (22-7, 10-6) women will play the Hokies (17-12, 6-10) on Thursday afternoon in the tournament’s second round. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Syracuse enters the ACC Tournament following its fifth straight win, defeating Boston College, 69-63 on Sunday afternoon in the Carrier Dome. The Orange women are expected to get an NCAA bid no matter what happens at the ACC Tournament, but they can improve their NCAA seeding with a win or two in Greensboro.
Co-ACC champion Louisville is the ACC Tournament’s No. 1 seed, while Notre Dame earned the No. 2 seed. Both teams secured a bye for the first round.
The 41st annual ACC Tournament will feature all 15 ACC teams and 14 games, beginning with three first-round matchups on Wednesday. Four second-round games are scheduled for Thursday, followed by the quarterfinals on Friday, the semifinals on Saturday, and the championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m.
All 14 games of this year’s tournament will be televised. The first, second and quarterfinal rounds will be carried by the league’s regional sports network, RSN.
ESPNU will broadcast both Saturday semifinal games. Sunday’s championship game will be available on ESPN2.
In addition, all games will be available via ACC Network Extra, Syracuse said.
