TACNY board elects new officers and directors

SYRACUSE — The Technology Alliance of Central New York (TACNY) recently elected new officers and directors.

Maria Welych was elected president, succeeding Howard R. Hollander, who was named president emeritus after having served as president for nine years, the alliance said in a news release. Welych has served on the TACNY board for five years, during which time she served as chair of the communications committee. She is the director of marketing and public relations for the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology, or the MOST. Welych previously worked for 25 years at The Post-Standard, including five years as technology editor. She earned a bachelor’s degree in newspaper journalism and a master’s degree in media management from Syracuse University. In 2005, Welych completed a certificate in information studies from SU’s iSchool.

The TACNY board also elected Misty Blowers as first vice president, Robert Morris as second vice president, and re-elected Rhonda Cabrinha as treasurer and Michael Masingale as secretary.

Two new directors, Jack Kearney, president and chief technology officer of Agile Technology Solutions LLC, and Beth Richards, Le Moyne College STEP assistant director, were approved to join the TACNY board. And, six standing directors were elected to serve another three-year term: Rhonda Cabrinha, Howard R. Hollander, David Jasper, Kathryn Pynn, Mark Walker, and Maria Welych.

Founded in 1903 as the Technology Club of Syracuse, the nonprofit Technology Alliance of Central New York’s (www.tacny.org ) says its mission is to facilitate community awareness, appreciation, and education of technology, and to collaborate with like-minded organizations across Central New York.
