Terakeet launches year-long SEO apprenticeship program for Syracuse-area residents

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Terakeet has launched its 12-month apprenticeship program designed to provide participants from the Syracuse area with in-depth training and knowledge on the fundamentals of search engine optimization (SEO).

Terakeet plans to hire four apprentices for its pilot program, which is a full -time paid program with benefits. The firm is now accepting applications for the program and will continue doing so until Nov. 9, per a Tuesday news release.

The program will begin on Jan. 4, 2021.

Terakeet, which is headquartered at 333 W. Washington St. in Syracuse, is a search-engine optimization technology company. The firm employs a combined local and remote workforce of more than 250 people.

About the program

The apprenticeship program is designed to “remove a number of the barriers to entry” that keep many recent high-school graduates and other members of the Syracuse community out of traditional marketing and technical spaces, Terakeet said.

The preferred education, experience, and skills Terakeet is looking for include an interest in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field; ability to present information clearly, concisely, and engagingly to an audience; and an eagerness to learn, listen and share your opinions. It also seeks self-starters with a willingness to work collaboratively and quickly and creative thinkers, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.

Throughout the program, apprentices will have the chance to collaborate closely with a team of SEO experts, content strategists, writers, and other members of Terakeet’s strategic outreach team. The program will be part hands-on and part classroom-style learning.

After successful certification in year one, each member of the apprenticeship program will be eligible for a role as a digital-marketing specialist. At that point, Terakeet will either commit to offering them a position or helping them into the next phase of their career or education.
