The Bonadio Group, Orchard Park firm agree to merge

The Bonadio Group, a Rochester–based accounting firm with offices in Syracuse and Utica, has reached an agreement to merge with Bevilacqua & Co. in the Buffalosuburb of Orchard Park.

The two companies have finalized an arrangement to become one firm, and will operate under the Bonadio name beginning Nov. 1, according to a news release distributed on Oct. 17.

Neither firm released any terms of their agreement.

The Bonadio Group, operating in its 35th year, provides accounting, business advisory, payroll, and personal financial services to clients of all sizes, according to the news release.

The merger will add seven employees, including two partners, to The Bonadio Group in Western New York. The additional workers will increase Bonadio’s employee count to about 500, including 135 employees in Western New York, the firm said.

John Bevilacqua and Susan Bevilacqua, both certified public accountants, are the new Bonadio partners, according to the news release.

“John and Susan are superb additions to our partnership, and the team they’ve assembled is top-notch. The result of this merger will help both Bevilacqua’s people and clients realize greater potential,” Tom Bonadio, CEO and managing partner of The Bonadio Group, said in the news release.

Merging with Bonadio “makes sense,” John Bevilacqua, principal of Bevilacqua & Co. said, in the news release.

“We look forward to opening the door to so many more value-added services for our clients and advancement opportunities for our people,” said Bevilacqua.

Susan Bevilacqua, also a principal in the Orchard Park firm, contends the merger will lift “many administrative burdens,” enabling the Bevilacquas to focus on their client work.

Besides its offices in Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, and Buffalo, the Bonadio Group also operates locations in Albany, Batavia, East Aurora, Geneva, New York City, and Rutland, Vt.
