ITHACA, N.Y. — The seven-bedroom, five-bath house at 2 Fountain Place, home to Ithaca College presidents since 1938, is for sale.

The college is asking $1.5 million for the turreted Romanesque home and $450,000 for the neighboring guest house that once served as the carriage house for 2 Fountain Place.

Warren Real Estate has the listing, according to an Ithaca College news release.

Ithaca College board members decided last fall to sell the 9,000-square-foot home, saying the many small rooms, the lack of parking, and its distance from campus made the home no longer practical.

Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado and her husband do not live in the residence. They have been living in an apartment rented for them by the college in anticipation of the sale.

Proceeds from the sale of 2 Fountain Place and the former carriage house will go toward the cost of building a new president’s residence at the north end of campus, near Emerson Hall. Ikon.5 Architects has been retained to design the residence. The firm has worked on many college campuses, as well as the Louis Vuitton showroom and office in New York City and the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center in New Jersey.

Work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019.
