Three new small businesses to formally open in downtown Ithaca on Oct. 3

ITHACA — The Downtown Ithaca Alliance — in collaboration with Ithaca Mayor Svante L. Myrick — will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies for three new small businesses in downtown Ithaca on Thursday, Oct. 3.

The new businesses include The Vintage Industry retail store at 113 West State St., The Potter’s Room shop at 109A The Commons, and chiropractor Dr. Kenneth J. Wright’s office at Clinton Hall at 110 North Cayuga St., according to a news release from the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.

Dr. Wright is a former bodybuilder and power lifter who completed a doctoral degree at New York Chiropractic College, according to the release. He has been in practice for more than 10 years, and provides chiropractic care, applied kinesiology, and nutritional counseling in a variety of settings including family practice, elder care, sports medicine, and third-world outreach, the release stated.

The Vintage Industry store, owned by Marie Sirakos, offers a variety of antiques, vintage items and collectibles of mid-century modern design, costume jewelry, clothing, photography, and folk art, according to the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.

The Potter’s Room is set to offer a new model of teaching, production, and exhibition of pottery, according to the news release. The business will have six electric pottery wheels as well as hand-building areas, and will host regular classes for those interested in developing their skills in ceramic arts. The space will be open seven days a week for retail sales and custom orders.

The ribbon-cutting ceremonies will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the suite for Dr. Wright’s practice, followed by The Vintage Industry at 3:15 p.m., and The Potter’s Room at 3:30 p.m.
