Tompkins Connect honors young professionals with Fab5 Awards

ITHACA, N.Y. — Winners of this year’s Fab5 Young Professional Awards will be feted March 7 during a virtual celebration.

The awards, sponsored by Tompkins Trust Company, highlight the achievements and impact of young professionals between the ages of 21 and 40 who excel in their fields and make an impact on Tompkins County, according to a news release from Tompkins Connect, a local young-professional organization that is part of the Tompkins Chamber.

This year, the Tompkins Connect Fab5 Committee asked the community to nominate individuals to whom they would give a “five-star” review.

The 2022 winners are:

  • Not-for-Profit Leader of the Year — Meryl Phipps, Village at Ithaca
  • Business Leader of the Year — Mike Wilber, Ithaca Beer
  • Rookie of the Year — Gavin Mosley, New York State Electric and Gas
  • Entrepreneur of the Year — Tess MacQueen, Pine Point Medical
  • Volunteer of the Year — Hei Hei Depew, Cornell University

“Fab5 is a unique event that showcases the great work young professionals are doing in our community,” David Walton, event and program manager at the Tompkins Chamber and member of the Fab5 planning committee, said in the release. “The last several years have been challenging in many ways, but it has been inspiring to see so many people step up and help each other out.”

The community is invited to attend the live stream of the Fab5 Young Professional Awards set for 7 p.m. on March 7. The event will include interviews with the winners so attendees can hear their stories and learn more about they work they do in the community.
