Tompkins Financial begins construction on downtown Ithaca headquarters

ITHACA, N.Y. — Construction has begun on Tompkins Financial Corp.’s (NYSE: TMP) new headquarters building in downtown Ithaca.

After it’s finished in early 2018, the 110,000-square-foot, seven-story building will consolidate more than 300 employees who currently occupy seven buildings in the Ithaca area. The new facility will feature customer parking at ground level, and a retail branch and ATM located on the first floor. The facility will offer customers access to banking and lending services, wealth-management services through Tompkins Financial Advisors, and insurance services through Tompkins Insurance Agencies — all in one building, the banking company said in a news release.

The new structure will occupy the site at 118 East Seneca St., which is owned by Tompkins Financial. The Tompkins Trust Company drive-in bank branch that has been on that site for many years is being re-located across the street to 119 E Seneca St., the release stated. The branch is expected to open in September.
