ITHACA, N.Y. — Tompkins Financial Corp. (NYSE: TMP) announced it has hired Martin Cross as senior VP and banking operations manager.

He will provide leadership to the team that provides operational support to Tompkins Financial’s affiliate banks. Cross will oversee daily operations within deposit operations, including cash management, card services, and loan operations. He will also provide assistance in project planning and execution, according to a Tompkins Financial news release.

Cross comes to Tompkins Financial with nearly 23 years of experience in banking, all at Hampton, Virginia–based Old Point National Bank, according to his LinkedIn profile. He started as a teller and worked his way up the ranks as a management trainee, software applications manager, account services officer, and finally, senior VP and operations officer. Cross held the latter position for 10 years.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Hampton University in 1997.

Tompkins Financial is a financial-services firm serving the Central, Western, and Hudson Valley regions of New York and the Southeastern part of Pennsylvania.
