Tompkins to host Thursday virtual small-business workshop focused on starting, growing a business

ITHACA, N.Y. — Tompkins Trust Company, which is in the process of rebranding to the name Tompkins, will be hosting a virtual small-business workshop this Thursday, May 20, from 6-7 p.m.

The workshop is intended for those looking to start a new business or are existing small-business owners seeking to grow their business.

Tompkins encourages minority and women-owned business owners to attend the workshop. It will include a discussion on best practices, resources needed, and other information that may be required, so participants are ready and prepared when applying for financing.

The workshop will also examine the criteria that banks look at to “mitigate their risk” when giving a loan and will provide resources to help individuals and businesses get started.

The next installment of the bank’s community events series — an online seminar for first-time home buyers — is set for June 15 from 12-1 p.m. to help first-time homebuyers navigate the various programs and services available to help start a home.
