Treehouse Reading & Arts Center formally opens in New York Mills

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. — The Treehouse Reading & Arts Center formally opened on Friday at 587 Main St. in New York Mills.

Joanna Robertson, a music educator, reading tutor, and literacy professor, owns and operates the business, the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce said in a news release.

The chamber participated in Friday’s formal-opening ceremony.

The bookshop, which features books and educational materials, is also described as a “community center.”

It’ll provide tutoring on reading, literacy and “arts-enrichment” activities, “dramatic” play hours, and story hours for preschoolers;

The business will also provide birthday parties, summer and school-break camps, and parent and teacher study groups.

It also features a tree house where children can play and read books, the Greater Utica Chamber said.

The business will be open Mondays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
