CANTON, N.Y. — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will hold a one-day recruitment event in early September to help people who want to work as a transportation security officer (TSO) at the airports in either Ogdensburg or Massena.

The session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 4, at the New York State Department of Labor office at 80 State Highway 310 Suite 8 in Canton, the TSA said in a Tuesday news release.

During the hiring event, TSA officials will discuss the duties of a TSA officer and the application process. They will also provide an overview of working for the federal government and discuss benefits.

Candidates must be 18 years or older, have a high-school diploma, GED, or equivalent security experience, and be a U.S. citizen or national. Applicants are required to have two valid forms of state or federal identification.

Those who are interested may also apply online; text “TSO” to 95495, or call 877-872-7990, the TSA said.
