SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse basketball announced that its ACC home opener against Notre Dame on Tuesday night has been postponed after some positive COVID-19 tests among players on Buffalo, Syracuse’s last opponent.
The Orange are also pausing all basketball-related activities and conducting contact tracing.
“We are using an abundance of caution in this situation, as we have throughout the pandemic, “Syracuse director of athletics John Wildhack, said in a statement. “The health and well-being of our student-athletes and staff associated with the men’s basketball program is of the utmost importance to us.”
Syracuse athletics said it is working closely with the Onondaga County health department, New York State public-health officials, and the ACC Medical Advisory Group, to determine the next steps. The team is adhering to all public-health guidelines.
At this point it’s unclear how long the team will be shut down.
