WATERTOWN, N.Y. — New York State Police announced March 1, 2021 that they have arrested a former Fuccillo Auto Group employee for making off with more than $1 million from the company.
On Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, State Police arrested Joseph A. Pompo, age 31 of Syracuse, for first-degree grand larceny, a class B felony.
State Police say Pompo, who served as director of taxation and finance at Fuccillo Auto Group, stole the money from a related business he created, using the Fuccillo name. He allegedly committed the thefts over the period from January 2020 through December 2020.
Pompo was arraigned virtually in the city of Watertown and was released on his own recognizance. He was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on March 4, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. in Watertown court.
Syracuse.com reported March 1, 2023 that Pompo was later cleared by a grand jury for stealing more than $1 million from the auto dealership but accepted a plea deal in the case for a lesser misdemeanor charge.
