U.S. Army awards SRC $22 million counter-drone contract extension

CICERO, N.Y. — The U.S. Army has awarded SRC Inc. a $22 million, six-month extension on a previous contract to counter enemy small, low-flying drones.

SRC will work on the contract at its facility in Cicero, and employees should finish the work in late July, per the website of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

The DOD refers to the program as the “counter-unmanned aerial system, expeditionary, low slow small unmanned aerial system integrated defeat system.”

SRC is a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Cicero that focuses on areas that include defense, environment, and intelligence. SRC had nearly 900 employees in Central New York and more than 1,150 workers companywide, as of 2018, according to CNYBJ Research.
