USDA awards Tioga County LDC, Town of Massena funding for projects

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has awarded federal funding to the Tioga County Local Development Corp. (LDC) and the Town of Massena for various projects.

The funded projects will improve public water systems, expand access to broadband, and support small businesses, the office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D–N.Y.) announced Wednesday.

The Tioga County LDC will use $50,000 to develop and implement a technical support program for small retail and hospitality businesses in Tioga County.

The same organizations will also use $94,000 to develop a website and supporting marketing materials for local employers and economic-development organizations in order to build a skilled workforce in Tioga County

The Town of Massena in St. Lawrence will use $27,000 to determine the various options and alternatives for improving the public water system serving the community, per Gillibrand’s news release

The grants are part of more than $685,000 in funding that Gillibrand’s office announced. Organizations in both Cattaraugus and Sullivan counties were also awarded funding.
