The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has awarded federal funding to the Tioga County Local Development Corp. (LDC) and the Town of Massena for various projects.
The funded projects will improve public water systems, expand access to broadband, and support small businesses, the office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D–N.Y.) announced Wednesday.
The Tioga County LDC will use $50,000 to develop and implement a technical support program for small retail and hospitality businesses in Tioga County.

The Town of Massena in St. Lawrence will use $27,000 to determine the various options and alternatives for improving the public water system serving the community, per Gillibrand’s news release
The grants are part of more than $685,000 in funding that Gillibrand’s office announced. Organizations in both Cattaraugus and Sullivan counties were also awarded funding.
