UTICA, N.Y. — Sickenberger Lane, a 15-year-old downtown Utica bar and entertainment venue, will formally reopen on Friday under its new name, Sicken@624, and look, as a showcase for local artwork.
Sicken@624, located at 624 Varick St., will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event at 5:15 p.m. with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce.
Work began on remodeling the Sickenberger Lane facility in September 2018, according to a news release from the Greater Utica Chamber. Business owner Michelle Klosek commissioned friend Angela Johnson of BB Designs/Utica Love to re-design the space “entirely with the goal of becoming Central New York’s go-to art & entertainment venue,” per the chamber. Murals and other artwork from more than 30 area artists are on display both inside and outside the bar.
Sicken@624 will be available for rental, parties, events, shows, and more.
The Friday ribbon cutting will be followed by an after-party, featuring music with DJ Ease One, High Caliber Entertainment, and Dance with Utica, as well as live art, interactive murals, and light appetizers, the chamber said. Drink specials, giveaways, and an evening full of surprises are also on tap.
