CLINTON, N.Y. — Utica Coffee Roasting Company is preparing to open its second retail location in the village of Clinton, about 10 miles outside of Utica.
The new store is expected to open in early October, according to a news release issued by Romanelli Communications, which owns the building at 2 College St. where Utica Coffee is setting up shop. The address for the coffee shop, however, is 1 West Park Row, according to Joseph Benincasa, senior copywriter at Romanelli Communications.
The interior will undergo a facelift to match the look of the Utica store, says Frank Elias, who co-owns Utica Coffee Roasting Company with Heather Delia. New equipment, lighting, and decorations will be part of the changes that are made, he says. Elias does not have an estimate of the renovation costs.
The shop will be just over 1,000 square feet in size, Elias says, and will offer both hot and iced coffee, espresso, and company merchandise. Sandwiches, bread, and pastries, sourced from Utica Bread in downtown Utica, will also be available, according to the release.
The Utica Coffee Roasting shop will be open seven days a week, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, the release says.
Elias estimates the store will be staffed by between four and six employees, who will ideally be from Clinton and work full time. “I like consistency,” he says.
The emphasis on having full-time staff is part of the company’s mission, which Elias describes as “revitalization through good, responsible business development.”
Elias wants the Clinton store “to be a connection between business and people,” he told BJNN.
