Utica Custom T-Shirt Company to expand, add jobs

UTICA — The Utica Custom T-Shirt Co., a producer of custom apparel, on Tuesday announced its acquisition of a building that will triple the size of the firm’s current production facilities.

Utica Custom T-Shirt purchased a two-story, 1,800-square-foot building behind its current showroom at 604 Columbia St. in Utica, the company said in a news release.

The firm didn’t release details about the acquisition cost or other deal terms.

Utica Custom T-Shirt will use the space to offer customizing processes that include embroidery, tackle twill, silkscreen, and direct-to-garment, the company said.

The firm also has plans to produce merchandise that ranges from customized clocks and puzzles to customized compacts, koozies, sports-bottles, and flip top lighters.

With the expansion, Utica Custom T-Shirt expects to add between three and five employees to its payroll in the next 90 days, the company said.

The building acquisition means the company is “a full six months ahead” of its business-plan schedule and positions the firm “to serve local residents and [businesses] even better, Adrienne Zito, company owner, said in the news release.

“The whole idea is to provide area residents and businesses a one-stop shopping experience that offers unsurpassed quality and service at the lowest prices possible, whether we’re talking customized T Shirts, hoodies, hats, polo shirts, or now, with our added sublimation studio, customized clocks, puzzles, or shoulder bags,” said Zito.

The business, which launched in May, is located in Utica’s brewery district.
