CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — New York State troopers and local police arrested a Utica man on Wednesday after a pursuit following an armed carjacking and car theft in the village of Canajoharie (Montgomery County).
After the chase, troopers located the suspect vehicle on E. Jefferson Street in the city of Little Falls. The pursuit continued onto W. Jefferson St. and turned onto the NYS Canal Trail. A short time later, the chase ended on the canal trail (town of Little Falls) when the suspect vehicle became disabled in a ditch. After that, the suspect fled into the wooded area off the canal trail.
Troopers and a Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy observed the suspect walking along the canal trail where he was taken into custody without incident.
Jonathon J. Grico-Wolak, age 30 from Utica, was arrested for the following charges. The State Police arrested him for DWAI-drugs, 2nd degree criminal impersonation, and several vehicle and traffic violations. The Canajoharie Police Department charged him with 1st degree robbery, two counts of 2nd degree menacing, reckless endangerment, and 4th degree grand larceny.
Grico-Wolak was arraigned in the village of Canajoharie and was remanded to the Montgomery County Jail on bail of $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
