UTICA, N.Y. — Utica University will hold its commencement exercises on Thursday, May 11 at 5 p.m. in the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
The event begins with the undergraduate commencement ceremony, where the university will honor 425 undergraduates.
Sports leader Greg Sankey will address the class of 2023 as keynote speaker. He is the commissioner of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), one of the top Division I athletic conferences in the country. Sankey began his career at Utica University, where he served as director of intramural sports. He was named SEC commissioner in 2015 after joining the conference in 2002. Utica University will confer an honorary doctor of humane letters upon Sankey at commencement.

The graduation ceremony for those earning certificates, master’s, and doctoral degrees is set for Friday, May 12 at 10 a.m. at the Adirondack Bank Center, where 219 will be honored. Ann Ciancia, a 2018 graduate, will give the keynote address. While at Utica, she served as the first-ever two-term student-government president along with senior-class president. Ciancia currently serves as the Title IX coordinator and director of compliance at Paul Smith’s College.
Utica University offers more than 40 majors to about 2,900 undergraduate and 1,200 graduate students.
