SYRACUSE — The redeveloped former Lincoln Supply warehouse earned a platinum rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program.

The 100-year-old, four-story former warehouse was redeveloped into 30,000 square feet of mixed-use commercial and residential space in 2009 and 2010, according to Syracuse University (SU). SU’s Near Westside Initiative was a leader of the project, along with the Syracuse Center of Excellence.

The building, located at 109 Otisco St., includes energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling and storm water retention strategies that prevent runoff from entering the city and county sewer systems, SU said. The first and second floors of the building contain office space that houses La Casita Cultural Center and Say Yes to Education.

The third and fourth floors include 10 live-work artist lofts.

Chicago–based Brininstool + Lynch designed the renovation. A number of local firms worked on the project include the C&S. Cos., Palucci Engineering, Earth Sensitive Solutions, Northeast Green Building Consulting, and UPSTATE: A Center for Design, Research and Real Estate in SU’s School of Architecture.

The contractor was Rich and Gardner Construction Co. of Syracuse. Daniel Queri Consulting Services managed construction.
