Syracuse (No. 65 in the NCAA’s NET Ratings) enters the Wake Forest game off a mid-week bye. The Orange were last in action last Saturday, losing 97-88 at home to Duke. That followed a one-point loss at Clemson. The Cuse badly needs to get back on the winning track to improve its post-season chances.
Wake Forest (No. 105 in NET) is fresh off an 86-76 loss at No. 5 Louisville on Wednesday night. The Demon Deacons played very well in the first half, building a 15-point lead, only to see the Cards storm back in the second half. Wake’s leading scorer is 6’0 senior guard Brandon Childress, who averages 15.3 points and 4.7 assists per game. 7’0 junior center Olivier Sarr is a major presence inside for the Deacs, averaging 13 points and 9.4 rebounds a game.
Saturday’s contest is the 10th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Wake Forest, with the Orange leading the series 8-1. The Cuse has won the last three matchups, including a 79-54 win in the most-recent game on March 2, 2019 at Wake.
ESPN’s College Basketball Power Index (BPI) gives Syracuse an 84.1 percent chance of beating Wake Forest. The projected point differential is 11 points. The sports analytics website TeamRankings.com says the Orange have a 76.4 percent chance of winning the game.
