Winter storm to start hitting CNY early Saturday afternoon, 10-20 total inches expected

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Most parts of Central New York are expected to receive between 10 and 20 inches of total snow in the weekend snowstorm, with major snowfall starting early Saturday afternoon.

That’s according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Binghamton Office. The NWS has posted a winter storm warning for most of the Central New York area, in effect from noon on Saturday to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

It has also released the below snowfall forecast map.

The snowstorm is expected to be followed by an Arctic blast of cold temperatures and gusty winds, producing low windchill temperatures and blowing snow.
