Woman charged with attempted theft of Madison County Sheriff’s vehicles

WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. — Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies arrested a Wampsville woman for burglary and attempting to steal six separate sheriff’s office vehicles.

Around 7:25 a.m. on May 24, deputies responded to an address on Daniels Drive for a report of a suspicious individual standing in the caller’s driveway. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Sarah Arnston, 37, in the driveway. During their investigation, deputies learned Arnston had entered the caller’s residence and stole property.

Deputies also learned that prior to burglarizing the residence, Arnston attempted to steal six different MSCO vehicles parked in the Madison County Complex parking lot.

Arnston was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, six counts of fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, one count of petit larceny, one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one county of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Arnston was transported to the Madison County Jail to await arraignment.
