SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Crews are starting work on the exterior of the Hotel Syracuse pedestrian bridge over East Onondaga Street.
The City of Syracuse approved a permit for hotel management to close the surrounding sidewalk on the street, the Hotel Syracuse said in a news release issued Tuesday.
The work involves removing the exterior that was added in the 1980s, an effort that will re-expose the original exterior of the bridge and walkway.
Once crews complete the demolition work, the Cavalier Room (or the conference center on East Onondaga Street) will provide the main access to the Imperial ballroom, according to the Hotel Syracuse release.
The hotel’s management expects construction crews will need about two weeks to complete the project.
The Hotel Syracuse will become the Marriott Downtown Syracuse once it reopens next spring following a $57 million renovation project.
