Zabriskie named executive director of Onondaga County Public Library

Christian Zabriskie

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) board of trustees announced it has named Christian Zabriskie as the library’s new executive director.

Zabriskie is a founder and executive director of Urban Libraries Unite (ULU) and was recently named Library Journal’s 2020 Librarian of the Year along with ULU co-founder Lauren Comito.

Zabriskie has served in a variety of positions in the Yonkers and Queens public library systems, most recently as the branch administrator at the Grinton I. Will Library in Yonkers.

A graduate of the information studies and library science master’s degree program at Florida State University, Zabriskie also earned a master’s in English language and literature from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Zabriskie will begin as executive director at OCPL on Jan. 6. He replaces Janet Park, who retired from the post in September, after serving in the role since February 2018 and working for the library for more than 30 years.
